Bernina Hospice

The Bernina Pass (2328 metres) connects the Engadine with the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo. Crossing the Bernina Pass is just one of many highlights of a trip on the Bernina Express. Before arriving at the Ospizio Bernina station, the train passes the watershed between the Black and Adriatic Seas with the three small Nair, Pitschen and Bianco lakes. At 2253 metres above sea level, Bernina Hospice is the highest-altitude station on the Rhaetian Railway network. It features a covered platform for the snow-plough that ensures tracks remain clear during the winter months.
